PEG Training for Our Care Team

At Care & Carers, we believe that providing exceptional care means ensuring our team has the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support individuals with a range of complex healthcare needs.

This week, members of our care team participated in specialised training on Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG), conducted by a qualified dietitian. The session offered practical guidance on the safe management of PEG feeding, enabling our carers to enhance their clinical knowledge and reinforce the high standards of care we deliver daily.

PEG feeding is vital for many individuals who are unable to eat or drink safely by mouth. Supporting someone with a PEG requires not only technical competence but also compassion, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of each person’s unique needs.

During the training, our team covered the following topics:

  • Safe administration of PEG feeds and hydration
  • Infection prevention and good hygiene practices
  • Daily care and monitoring of the PEG site
  • Recognising potential complications and knowing when to escalate concerns
  • Best practices for maintaining comfort, dignity, and well-being throughout care

Continuous professional development is essential to our commitment to providing outstanding care. By investing in specialised training led by experienced healthcare professionals, we ensure our front line care staff remain confident, competent, and well-equipped to provide the safest possible support.

We extend our gratitude to the qualified dietitian for delivering an informative and engaging training session, and to our dedicated care team for their enthusiasm and commitment to continually expanding their knowledge.

At Care & Carers, learning is a continuous journey. Every new skill we acquire enhances our ability to deliver compassionate, person-centred care to the individuals who place their trust in us.
