As a Home Care Provider, How We Protect Our Environment
At Care & Carers, we are committed to delivering exceptional home care while also being mindful of our environmental responsibility. Our services extend across Buckinghamshire and South Oxfordshire, including areas such as Thame, Chinnor and Long Crendon, where public transport is often not a viable option. As a result, our care staff frequently drive, and we recognise the environmental implications of this.
To address this issue, we have implemented significant measures to reduce our carbon footprint and act responsibly for both our community and the planet.
Using Local Suppliers
Wherever possible, we choose local suppliers. This not only supports our community but also reduces transportation needs and lowers emissions.
Smarter Care Planning with Careberry
We utilise Careberry, an all-in-one care management platform, to plan visits efficiently, reduce unnecessary mileage, and minimise paperwork. Careberry also helps us manage billing and payroll electronically, saving trees and energy.
Switching to Degradable PPE
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential in care, but it also creates waste. Although it is more expensive, we have invested in biodegradable PPE, which significantly reduces plastic waste.
Green Dementia Initiative
Our care coordinator, Sarah Brenton, is being trained in our Green Dementia initiative. This programme utilises natural outdoor environments to support people living with dementia, helping to enhance their wellbeing while promoting greener, healthier care.
Planting Trees in Memory of Clients
When our clients sadly pass away, we honour their memory by planting a tree in their name somewhere in the world. It is our way of creating life while remembering theirs.
Our Commitment
Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. By implementing these changes, as a home care provider, we aim to demonstrate that home care providers can play a significant role in building a more sustainable future. Caring for people and caring for our planet go hand in hand.
